Two simple reef microalgae species are used for rotifer cultivation:
- Nannochloropsis (80%) + Tetraselmis (20%).
- Three simple reefs ® microalgae are used for rotifer enrichment: Phaeodactylum (33.3%) + Nannochloropsis (33.3%) + Tetraselmis (33.3%).
The dosage will depend on the number of rotifers reached. The average consumption is 100 mg per liter of rotifer culture per day (25% rotifer is harvested every day).
To maintain a rotifer culture, follow the directions below:
Required material: 3-cylinder bottles of 2 L with slow bubbling. Rotifer inoculums.
Necessary food: simple reefs ® Nannochloropsis (80%) + Tetraselmis (20%)
Culture cycle of strain: 5 days
Recommended water resistance: 1019, although they can be grown well up to 1024.
Optimal breeding temperature: 22ºC to 25ºC
Rotifers are very sensitive to changes in water parameters. Rotifer population would be affected if water quality declines. If you notice excess debris in the cylinder, filter the rotifer and start the culture in a new clean flask and add the required amount of microalgae.
