Natural and inexpensive
Natural weathering processes over the centuries formed the fantastic shapes of South Seas Base Rock through erosion and limestone mining. The LifeRocks of CaribSea are aragonite rocks of fossil origin, which are extracted from dry reefs. Formed by nature, each stone is unique. Every single one has its own unique character. This makes LifeRocks ideal for building spectacular and individual reef tanks.
Optimal living conditions
The stones are suitable for reef construction and decoration of marine, reef and freshwater tanks. The shape of the South Seas Shelf Rocks is ideal as a base. Due to the straight surfaces the stones can be stacked stably. They are also very suitable for plateaus in the reef. The surface structure and porosity of the stones allows bacteria to quickly colonize the reef. Contrary to the LifeRocks, the South Seas Shelf Rocks have no additional bacterial coating and are therefore a favourable alternative to the LifeRocks. You can also mix these rocks ideally with reef rocks from the LifeRocks range. South Seas Base Rock can also be an interesting and realistic complement to a desert reptile biome.
No destruction of ecosystems
Even though few people say it out loud: the amount of live rock available on the market exceeds the amount that can be legally extracted. LifeRocks are extracted sustainably and guaranteed without destroying existing ecosystems. Therefore the use of CaribSea South Seas Base Rock as an alternative to live rock is an active contribution to environmental protection.
Free of chemicals
The extraction of LifeRocks from fossil reefs makes them perfect not only on the appearance. Their chemical and structural composition is also natural. LifeRocks are absolutely silicate-free and therefore no other chemicals to worry about. In comparison to the live rock they also show a lower nutrient load!
