Not all salts are created equally. The new paradigm in salt is not only about “parameters”. This is a remedial expectation of a quality salt. What separates mediocrity from mastery is consistency and purity. This is best achieved through the elimination of unknown contaminant variables contained in the moisture of salt mixes. Because Hot Salt Reef is anhydrous, meaning that it contains little to no moisture in its molecular structure, it is absent these contaminants.
Hydrated salts contain, on average, 12% moisture. This means that in a 25kg bucket, 3kg of it is water weight. This means less salt and therefore less mixing volume capacity. In addition to inefficiency, the contaminants contained in the moisture add unwanted materials to the product, creating issues such as residue, unpredictable parameter results from batch to batch, material drop-out, and long mixing times. In effect, moisture is the culprit behind most known headaches associated with salt mixes.
Hot Salt requires the fewest grams of any other salt to reach desired salinity. For instance, if Hot Salt requires 35 grams per liter and another salt requires 38.5 grams to achieve the same salinity, that is 3.5 grams of moisture and or unwanted additives!
