ATI ICP Element Iodine

Highly pure solution to increase the individual element iodine in reef aquariums. Ideal for compensating element deficiencies and for daily element supply.

Dosage instructions:

  • 1ml per 100 liters (26 gal) increases the iodine content by 10µg/l
  • Increase iodine by a maximum of 20µg/l (2ml/100l or 2ml/26 gal) per day
  • The bottle contains 1,000,000µg of iodine

Symptoms of low iodine levels:

  • Weaker tissue of Xenia and Zoanthus
  • Increased susceptibility of corals to bacterial infections and parasites
  • Iodine is involved in the formation of color (especially blue, violet) – deficiency leads to a washed-out appearance
  • Poor molting of shrimps and crabs: Iodine is needed for the synthesis of the molting hormone ecdysteroid, a deficiency leads to molting problems or death
  • Metabolic problems in fish, as iodine is needed in the thyroid

Causes of low iodine levels:

  • Biological consumption by corals, macroalgae and microfauna: Brightly illuminated tanks with many inhabitants consume iodine quickly
  • No targeted compensation through the two part system
  • Removal by skimming, activated carbon, ozone and UV: Iodine is easily removed as a volatile trace element – regular balancing necessary
